“By opting for Colortec ORIGIN carpet solutions from Dansk Wilton, we are choosing a sustainable product made from natural materials, thereby showcasing both quality and durability, and reinforcing the passive hotel concept.”

The ATLANTIC Hotel Heidelberg claims to be one of the world’s first high-rise hotel buildings to meet the passive house standard. This premier new location in Heidelberg is right next to the main train station. And hence in what is probably the most modern part of the otherwise time-honoured university city: This is because the ‘Bahnstadt’ neighbourhood – the name refers to the location of the area on the site of a former goods station – is one of the largest urban development projects in the whole of Germany, covering almost 109 hectares, and will be one of the largest passive house developments in the world once it is completed.

Forward-thinking in every aspect
Heidelberg’s climate-neutral urban development plan, featuring 7,000 jobs and 5,500 homes, is ambitious — and the new Hotel constructed on the newly devised Europaplatz matches this ambition. The new pride of the ATLANTIC Hotel Group has been designed with energy-saving and sustainable methods (Winking Froh Architects, Berlin/Gildehaus Lankenau, Bremen). Its modern design, superior craftsmanship, and meticulously chosen materials have been seamlessly infused into every detail of the interior. The interior concept for the public areas was developed by OlufemiMoser from Munich, and the realisation and implementation planning was carried out in close cooperation with Brumann Innenraumkonzepte.

Every wish fulfilled
Across from the newly constructed Heidelberg Congress Center, a four-star superior hotel has been created for an international and discerning clientele, more fitting for one of Europe’s major cities. With 310 rooms and suites, eight conference and event spaces, a ballroom, expansive dining facilities with a restaurant, a rooftop bar, fitness and sauna area, and underground parking—conference attendees and city visitors will find their every requirement met.

What truly sets this temporary residence apart for its guests is the exceptional quality of its cosy, comfortable retreats within a cosmopolitan setting. The blend of warm natural colours with subtle shades of grey and green perfectly complements the light oak furniture. “The unique details and high-quality craftsmanship create an elegant and welcoming atmosphere in the rooms and suites that exudes a charming sense of wellbeing,” says the Brumann design team.

Quality and endurance
Elegance and integrity, exceptional craftsmanship, and carefully selected materials define the entire interior design across the 15 floors. In choosing flooring for the corridors and public areas, Brumann Interior Concepts prioritised working with an industry partner who could reliably deliver a sustainable product made from natural materials. “With our extensive project experience with Dansk Wilton, we knew we were making a sound choice,” explains Marcus Malte Müller, Managing Director of Brumann, on their decision for the Danish carpet specialists.

We were also keen to incorporate a bespoke design. This led us to select “Colortec Origin” products: “Thanks to Dansk Wilton’s expertise, a tailored design was quickly developed and a sample ordered for review and presentation to the hotel operator,” explains Müller. “The partnership once again proved to be very professional,” he concludes with satisfaction.

Flawless integration from exterior to interior
In the summer of 2024, the ATLANTIC Hotel Heidelberg will welcome its first guests. Brumann Interior Concepts emphasised the continuity of the room interiors with natural materials and colours, adhering to the overarching passive hotel concept throughout the corridors and public spaces. Accent colours like red and green throughout the hotel draw inspiration from Heidelberg’s setting – showcasing the scenic Bergstrasse with its renowned vineyards and the red sandstone from the Neckar-Odenwald district. This red colour theme is also beautifully mirrored in the carpet design.

The new flagship of the ATLANTIC Hotel Group dazzles both inside and out, with seamless elegance: The local environment – integrating the ambitious climate-neutral urban development initiative and the larger cultural and natural landscape surrounding Heidelberg – weaves a continuous narrative throughout this impressive new hotel build.
