Seven custom-designed carpet styles in bold motifs and refined colours shape the distinctive identity of Denmark’s new landmark resort, Rox Resort – with expressive patterns, confident colours and bespoke craftsmanship.

A landmark destination where urban luxury meets oceanfront living

February 2026

Rox Resort is Denmark’s newest hospitality icon, with an elegant balance between luxury city hotel and effortless beach retreat – just 27 minutes from Copenhagen.

Dansk Wilton was appointed to design, produce and install all carpets throughout the five-star resort; from guestrooms and corridors to restaurants, staircases and the conference wing.

Working closely with interior architects Spik Studios, Dansk Wilton helped translate the resort’s daring visual concept into textile form.

“In our projects, we see great value and many advantages in using rugs as part of the interior design. From a practical perspective, they help create a comfortable acoustic environment. They also add a soft, homely feel that we often aim to achieve in our projects, and they allow different types of zones to be defined by placing area rugs beneath selected furniture groupings. From a design perspective, carpets also give a creative freedom to experiment and test different patterns and colours to create the desired expression,” says Simon Poulsgaard, Architect MSA, Spik Studios.

A bold visual language
The brief called for bespoke carpet designs, each contributing to Rox Resort’s confident and expressive identity.

The interior theme blends classic elegance with warm, muted tones, natural greenery and open fireplaces – all culminating in an atmosphere of relaxed indulgence combined with a playful energy.

For this, the architects envisioned carpets that were not background surfaces, but a defining design element – colourful, expressive and unmistakably bold.

“The unique carpets feature exuberant leaves, floral silhouettes, zebra-inspired striping and organic botanical forms. These motifs are paired with confident colour accents – touches of pink, lilac and soft rose woven into deeper, moodier backgrounds,” explains Lars Hjortshøj Andersen, Export Manager at Dansk Wilton.

Tailored qualities for every space
The design journey began more than a year before installation. Spik Studios supplied the initial creative direction, while Dansk Wilton adapted the artwork to weaving requirements, by resolving pattern repeats, adjusting scale and ensuring technical feasibility.

A total of seven different carpet designs were created for the guestrooms, corridors, staircases, conference facilities and restaurants. These were produced in different qualities, each carefully selected for its intended location.

“We always differentiate the carpet quality based on the need and usage . Naturally, there is a difference between a guestroom, where fewer people walk across the carpet, and a corridor, which sees heavy daily traffic. Conference rooms are even more demanding – as are shared spaces and restaurants. Each area requires its own quality,” tells Lars Hjortshøj Andersen.

“We have also delivered two custom rugs for the restaurant – used to establish zones and create a sense of ‘rooms within the room’,” he adds.

Added luxury and improved acoustics
Dansk Wilton handled the full installation to ensure every design was placed correctly and to maintain the highest level of craftsmanship.

Across the entire hotel, an additional acoustic underlay was chosen to make the carpets even more luxurious underfoot.

“To enhance the acoustics and the atmosphere, we installed a 6 mm rubber underlay underlay throughout the entire hotel. It is incredibly soft and comfortable to walk on, and it naturally improves the acoustics as well – matching the luxury feel across the whole resort,” Lars Hjortshøj Andersen states.

Quick decisions required
During the process, carpet designs were adjusted – and new designs were added.

“Along the way, we had to make some swift decisions regarding the design. Luckily, we felt that we reached the right solutions quite fast without delaying the process. Samples arrived promptly, both digital and physical, allowing us to make decisions together with the client and continue with the interior design. When we needed to supplement with two large bespoke rugs in the show kitchen, Dansk Wilton quickly helped us develop these. We are very happy with the collaboration,” states Simon Poulsgaard from Spik Studios.
